Gateway to Discovery

NCLC’s focus is on the land, and our primary tool is acquisition. But that’s not our only tool, and connecting with the land holds as much importance to us. To that end, we’ve developed the Gateway to Discovery, a “virtual” natural history center, where you can find resources to help you start exploring these connections.

Programs

North Coast Land Conservancy’s Gateway to Discovery field programs, Listening to the Land indoor series, and 4th Saturday stewardship events provide an entry point to Oregon’s coastal riches — birding, geology, and a salmon rich watershed.

Hiking

Birding

Tide Tables

The moon and the tides are essential to the amazing productivity of oceans, rivers, and estuaries. And of course to explore these riches, you will need a good tide calendar!

Tidepools

Arch Cape Inn and Retreat is in the process of changing its mission statement and daily living activities in order to become eligible for green certification. A particular emphasis for us focuses on protecting and preserving the water quality of our local area.
In an effort to keep our water clean, water that surrounds us everywhere, we are making  changes in our habits. One such change that is easy to do is to use ordinary vinegar in a spray bottle as a surface cleaning agent.
