Cannon Beach in the Winter

November 21st, 2012 by insideout

Cannon beach is a great place to visit, even during the wetter, winter months. As locals, we have some tactics for getting over the weather so we can enjoy ourselves. Here are some tips for an enjoyable, peaceful and affordable winter trip to Cannon Beach:

Cannon Beach Lodging with an Ocean View

Since the weather might play up, we recommend picking one of our bed and breakfast rooms with an ocean view. Some of our favorites are the Ginger, Gauguin and Parisian, although you can watch the sea from the majority of our rooms.

Avoid the Crowds

As a writer for the Dallas Morning News put it: “Trade in the shorts and flip flops for rubber boots and rain gear,” and an off-season weekend in Cannon Beach will be unlike any other ‘beach vacation’ you’ve taken. Prices drop, parking is easier and townspeople (including innkeepers!) have more time to talk with you.

“In winter, it’s a different town,” say many residents and business owners. After a summer that can attract 10,000 people a day, the town becomes nice and quiet.

But many of the attractions that bring tourists to Cannon Beach during the summer months can be enjoyed during this time of year as well. Dramatic ocean scenery, hiking trails through towering evergreen forests and neighborhoods filled with boutiques, bookstores and art galleries do not disappear after Labor Day!

Many business owners, as happy as we are to have brisk business, look forward to the fall as a time when we can ease back into living in a small town with a population of 1,700.

A Room with a Fireplace

Wait out storms with a blazing fireplace to keep you cozy. Need a break from life? Busy summer vacations rarely afford a lot of down time. So parents and couples, take an affordable weekend getaway to Cannon beach and get to know each other again by firelight, with the sound of rain pattering on your window. See our couple’s special at the bottom of our Cannon Beach activities page (use link above).

We hope you might consider a winter vacation to the Oregon Coast. It will be different than what you expect.

Most Romantic on the Oregon Coast

December 8th, 2010 by Innkeeper

Surrounded by coastal state parks, Arch Cape Inn provides a European atmosphere of narrow drives, a lamp lit cafe, and a French hotel where Couples still stroll arm and arm with one another…celebrating l’amour.

Arch Cape Inn has brought historic romance back to life on the Oregon Coast. Our refurbished castle-like property presents a movie-set lodging and dining experience within the atmosphere of an  18th Century French Chateau.

And the nearby town of Cannon Beach, host to multiple artist events, is a small coastal artists’ village that hasn’t been ruined by the glare of hurried development. The romantic coastal setting on the shores of the pristine Pacific Ocean, and the soft spoken aura and tasteful ambiance subtlety encourages love.

Get away from it all for a least a night or two. Open a bottle of wine and listen to the sounds of winter on the Oregon Coast; Let the tranquil settings of the Arch Cape Inn Inn and the exhilaration of the Pacific Ocean  purge the stress of everyday life.

Deliberately small, naturally quiet. Come make a treasured winter memory. Arch Cape Inn & Retreat, an Oasis of Art, Nature, Romance and Exquisite Food and Wine.

Tidepools

Arch Cape Inn and Retreat is in the process of changing its mission statement and daily living activities in order to become eligible for green certification. A particular emphasis for us focuses on protecting and preserving the water quality of our local area.
In an effort to keep our water clean, water that surrounds us everywhere, we are making  changes in our habits. One such change that is easy to do is to use ordinary vinegar in a spray bottle as a surface cleaning agent.
