October 6, 2012 Rock the Beach 10K Run & 5K Run/Walk at Cannon Beach, OR

September 16th, 2012 by insideout
Cannon Beach OR Run/Walk 2012

The 2012 Rock the Beach Run/Walk in Oregon features a beautiful course right on Cannon Beach.

Saturday ~ 9:30 am to 1:00 pm

A run should be scenic and this second annual run/walk on Cannon Beach is exceptional. With the Pacific Ocean stretching into the western horizon and the bluffs and mountains framing the beach’s edge, it is truly a gorgeous place to run or stroll. The 10K loop will be both beautiful and challenging with half the course on the beach and the other half on pavement. The 5K is all beach so runners, casual walkers and dogs (on leashes, please) will all enjoy the sand and surf.

Registration for students is $25 and $50 for adults. The registration fee includes a high quality T-shirt, plus BBQ lunch and live music at the lovely and comfortable Cannon Beach Chamber Community Hall at 2nd and Spruce. It’s all for a good cause–proceeds benefit the Cannon Beach Preschool and Children’s Center (CBPCC). The CBPCC is non profit 501(c)(3) which has been providing quality child care and enriching educational opportunities since 1977. So get out there and run/walk to help local kids!

For folks watching the Rock the Beach race, it will be a nice day out on the beach. Cheer on the runners and walkers and take a wander around the quaint town of Cannon Beach.

The race starts near Second Street, in downtown Cannon Beach right on the beach. For more information, call (503) 436-1040. Links to register online and a full route map are at CBchildren.org. Note: Registration closes on Thursday October 4, 11:59 PM PST. Be sure to register as soon as you can before the event fills up!

Arch Cape Inn and Retreat is in the process of changing its mission statement and daily living activities in order to become eligible for green certification. A particular emphasis for us focuses on protecting and preserving the water quality of our local area.
In an effort to keep our water clean, water that surrounds us everywhere, we are making  changes in our habits. One such change that is easy to do is to use ordinary vinegar in a spray bottle as a surface cleaning agent.
